Vocal noise reduction - The Chris Bilewicz Way

A quick experiment I did was to reduce the background noise in a vocal track, I had some spill from drum in the recording process and I got rid of a lot of it by doing these steps…

Firstly I imported the audio file into Adobe Audition and then used the noise reduction processor to filter off all of the vocals and discard them so only the background noise I didn’t want is left. I then inverted the track and placed it into the multi-track view and brought in the same vocal track again and lined them up. Due to first track being inverted the peaks and troughs of the unwanted noise will cancel each other out leaving just the wanted vocals.
